Nottinghamshire Wedding Photography – Thoresby Courtyard – Rebecca & Dave

Todays blog post if from a wedding back in October at the stunning Thoresby Hall/Courtyard.  Rebecca & Dave booked me way back in 2016 after seeing a previous blog post from the same venue.  I’m typing this on a cold rainy January day and that seems to be the norm while i’m sat at the computer, roll on spring & summer.

RDBlog-40

Rebecca chose to have her bridal prep with all the bridal party in one of the exquisite rooms in Thoresby Hall, a grade 1 listed building built in 1865 and location for some of the filming of the film Great Expectations.  Her stunning dress was designed by Sophia Toli and supplied by Iconic Bride in nearby Edwinstowe.  Hair styling was completed by Helen Hewgill & make-up was was done by Sam from Sam’s Cottage creations.

Their wedding ceremony took place at Perlethorpe church, just a short car journey away, at the edge of the Thoresby Estate and after a few group photos, and special photoshoot with her horse Ella, it was off to Thoresby Courtyard for their wedding breakfast and reception.  Obviously, the couple made that short journey in style with a beautiful vintage car supplied Fabulous Cars.

Thoresby courtyard is the perfect canvas to crate your own bespoke look for your evening celebration, i’ve photographed numerous wedding here and no two are the same.  On this occasion the room decor was partially completed by Dan at Individual by design with other finishing touched by Rebecca and Dave themselves and with flowers by Jill’s Fabulous Flowers, Retford.

After a sumptuous meal supplied by Hensons catering it was time to get the party started with evening entertainment from the band Episode 21.

All in all, it was an amazing day with weather typical of the time of year, unpredictable, but it didn’t detract from a beautiful emotive day and a happy celebration of Dave & Rebecca’s love for each other.

Nottinghamshire Wedding Photography – Thoresby Courtyard – Joanne & Craig

Last weekend saw me photographing the wedding of Joanne & Craig with weather in complete contrast to their pre-wedding photoshoot.  If you missed that blog post you can find it here.  However, although challenging, the weather did not spoil the fun, emotion and love that these two quite clearly shared.

Their ceremony was held at St John’s Church in the small hamlet of Perlethorpe followed by an evening reception at the Thoresby Courtyard set in the grounds of Thoresby Hall, a grade 1 listed house on the edge of Sherwood forrest.  They were transported between the venues in a pristine  Austin Sixteen supplied by Wedding Classics

With beautiful twinkling fairy lights and amazing Christmas themed table dressings by Dan Ross at Individual by Design and sumptuous catering by Summersby Catering it truly was an evening of high spirits and happiness.

If you’d like to find out more about our wedding photography please do get in touch or drop by our website for more details.  Here’s a selection from Joanne & Craig’s big day.

Pre-Wedding Photoshoots by Nottingham Photographer

As a Nottingham Wedding Photographer a pre-wedding photoshoot is an inclusive element of our “all day wedding photography package”, but what are they? and do you need one?

Pre-wedding-66

One of the most common things people say to me during wedding consultations is that they “hate having their photo taken”.  To be honest who could blame them?  I for one wouldn’t feel comfortable, on a big day that has cost me thousands and have it a photographed by a complete stranger.

Pre-wedding-9736

That, in essence, is one of the biggest reasons i like to include a pre-wedding shoot.  Its an opportunity for you, the happy couple and me as your wedding photographer to get to know each other a little better.  It’s a way of helping you to feel relaxed and comfortable having your photographs taken and to help banish those nerves.

It’s an ideal opportunity for you to see how i work to create the natural looking images you see on my website, a way to show you what can be created with the minimal amount of direction.  If ‘you’ are relaxed it will show through in your images.

Pre-wedding-9189

We try, where possible, to hold your pre-wedding photoshoots at your chosen wedding venue, this allows us to explore the venue together to scout out the best of what it can offer.  Again, this will make it familiar territory on your big day.  It may be that some locations at the venue don’t lend themselves to your wedding attire etc and if little challenges like these are addressed beforehand it can only help in making your day run smoothly.

Pre-wedding-5528

Other reasons to have a pre-wedding photoshoot could be to create something unique for your big day such as personalised invitations, a photo guestbook or a guest signature frame.  It could also be possible to have your pre-wedding photos playing on a slideshow during your reception.

All this said, the pre-wedding photoshoot is not for everyone or every wedding.  The choice is completely up to the clients.  Some may already feel completely relaxed in front of the camera, other just want to save it all for the big day.  For others it may not be possible, for example, if you are flying in from overseas just for your wedding etc.

If you’d like to find out more about our wedding photography services or have any questions about pre-wedding photoshoots, or any other aspect of our wedding photography, please do not hesitate to get in touch, we would love to hear from you.  You could also visit our wedding photography website.

Guest Signature Frames

Guestbooks have been a feature of wedding receptions for many years and they personally record a short message from your guests for you to have as a lasting keepsake.  But where do most of these guestbooks end up?  on a bookshelf, out of view and probably not looked at until your anniversary.

Whilst its important to have this keepsake, why not compliment it with our guest signature frame? A beautiful bespoke keepsake that will always be on view.

With an image from your pre-wedding photoshoot (included FREE with our All-Day package) or one of your own, surrounded by your guests little messages, you will have a unique piece of wall art.

Our frames are hand crafted by our select local framer and supplied with soft lead pencils at your reception for your guests to sign.

Check out the few examples from past wedding below.  We even offer a range of frame options available too.  These frames can be added to your wedding package from as little as £140 but are a feature of our seasonal special offers.

Nottinghamshire Pre-Wedding Photography – Thoresby Hall

The weather in North Nottinghamshire can be bizarre at this time of year.  It had been foggy for the last few days without the sun making any appearance, but, it seemed Jo & Craig had all that in hand as literally just a couple of hours before their pre-wedding photoshoot the mist lifted and we were blessed with the most amazing light for their 40 minute photoshoot.

rob, ferrol, pre, wedding, photography, photographer, nottingham, nottinghamshireJo & Craig booked me to photograph their big day way back in 2013 and the pre-wedding shoot was a perfect time to catch up and run through their plans over a warming cup of coffee, but first we had to make the most of this glorious evening light -it was fading fast!!

They are getting married later this month at Pearlthorpe Church on the edge of the Thoresby Estate in North Nottinghamshire followed by a reception at Thoresby Courtyard what has the backdrop of the stunning Grade 1 listed Thoresby Hall.  Coupled with the wonderfully ornate gardens they have certainly chosen one of the regions finest venues to say their “I do’s” and i’m totally delighted that they have also chosen Rob Ferrol Photography to capture their special day.

Derbyshire Pre-wedding Photoshoot, Makeney Hall, Meryl & Daniel

It was a huge delight to catch up with Meryl & Daniel who booked me last year to photograph their big day this June.  As always the day soon comes around in rapid fashion.  Their chosen venue, Makeney Hall in Derbyshire, was somewhere that i’ve not previously photographed a wedding at so it made sense to have their pre-wedding photoshoot their.

It gave us both chance to have look around the venue, find some beautiful locations, both inside and out, and also allow them to become a littlemore relaxed at having their photograph taken.

Makeney Hall boasts some beautiful period features and some wonderful ornate gardens with some hidden follies too.  Had we not done the pre-wedding photoshoot it would be all to easy to miss these “little gems”.

Anyway here are a small selection of images from their photoshoot which lasted just about 1 hour.  If you’d like to find out more about our wedding photography please go get in touch.
